Chick N Max was hatched in Wichita, KS, a power-center for restaurant and business headquarters. With more than three decades of experience cooking up hot concepts, the Max in our chicken was raised right here in Wichita, and values the many mentors that inspired his love of restaurants as well as the valuable connections they create among friends, families, businesses and communities.
Max’s love of restaurants began back in his teenage days, scraping cheese off the pans in a Pizza Hut kitchen. With a career in restaurant development that now spans almost three decades, he conceptualized Chick N Max and assembled a team of culinary professionals to perfect the menu.
The first Chick N Max landed in 2018 at the heart of Wichita, KS—a metro area long known for ties to successful restaurant start-ups and entrepreneurial genius. Max was raised here and values the many local mentors that inspire his love of restaurants and the connections they create among friends, family, businesses and communities.
As founder and CEO, Max is grateful to put his past to work in a restaurant that prioritizes people and high-quality food as the foundation of every guest experience. Prior to the development of Chick N Max, Max served as an executive in development for Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, Smashburger, Ted’s Montana Grill, Fox & Hound, and Lone Star Steakhouse.
In Sarah’s professional positions, her Master’s degree from the Hugo Wall School of Urban & Public Affairs at Wichita State University has provided the basis of her ability to solve problems and weave disparate pieces together for a successful whole.
Sarah founded Safe Riders, Inc. in 2003, a chauffeur service that catered to the needs of would-be drunk drivers. She secured contracts with WSU and McConnell Air Force Base, in addition to several dozen local businesses, and managed a staff of 25 while providing hundreds of thousands of rides. The service sold in 2009 and after some time off, she reached out to Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers to secure a position as Real Estate & Public Affairs Director for the fast-casual chain, which has opened over 200 locations during her tenure. In her current role as Marketing & Communication VP with Chick N Max, she enjoys promoting the efforts of her team and the tasty food they craft.
Sarah lives in Wichita, KS with her husband and four kids. She dedicates free time to serving the community through a board position with the local YMCA, an event committee for Cerebral Palsy Research Foundation, and as a classroom volunteer with Youth Entrepreneurs.
Kodi’s diverse experience in the restaurant industry provides direction in menu development, sourcing, operations and training at Chick N Max. His approach to restaurant operations is hands-on and solutions oriented. He values the contributions of his team and bubbles up their best qualities to the benefit of the company.
Chick N Max launched in Wichita, KS with an ambitious growth plan that includes the opening of four new restaurants in 2018. Kodi is critical to the company’s trajectory. Working alongside industry veteran Max Sheets, Kodi’s relationships with suppliers are key to building a successful concept that serves great tasting food at an appealing price.
His most recent position at Sysco as a specialist in Angus Beef and culinary development, compounded Kodi’s earlier years of industry experience. After graduating with a degree in culinary arts from Le Cordon Blue in Austin, Kodi put his training to work at Worthington Renaissance Hotel and then a large corporate catering company, and then, in 2007, as Executive Chef at Flint Oak Hunting Lodge in Fall River, KS.
